Barbara Bush Hospitalized In Texas

Spokeswoman Jean Becker said Bush, 83, was admitted to Methodist Hospital for testing after complaining of stomach pain for several days. She arrived at the emergency room at about 5:30 p.m. and remained at the hospital as of about 9 p.m.

Jim McGrath, a spokesman for Bush's husband, former President George H.W. Bush, said all of the tests were negative and that she is expected to be released either later Tuesday or early Wednesday.

ABC News station KTRK in Houston is reporting that former First Lady Barbara Bush is in the hospital.

Eyewitness News has learned that former First Lady Barbara Bush was transported to the Methodist Hospital emergency room.

Hospital officials tell us that Mrs. Bush was brought in for tests.

She is expected to recover.

Former first lady Barbara Bush was taken to Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center Tuesday evening after suffering a "little bit of pain," family spokesman Jim McGrath said.

The 83-year-old was taken by private car about dinner time, and doctors are running tests, he added.

"So far everything is negative," McGrath said.

"Fortunately, it looks like it's going to be a small matter," he said.

Former President Bush was with his wife at the hospital.
