The magic of the holidays returns to NYC Monday evening as unveils its legendary holiday windows, in partnership with CRYSTALLIZEDTM - Swarovski Elements. This is the fifth year for the annual Snowflake Spectacular, a holiday tradition for millions of New Yorkers and tourists.
Fashion designer Tory Burch will join Steve Sadove, Chairman and CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue to turn on the lights. Marlo Thomas, National Outreach Director for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will also be there in celebration of Saks Fifth Avenue's support for the fifth annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign.
This year's windows are based on the new children's holiday book, A Flake Like Mike, written by Emmy-award-winning Simpsons writer, Mike Reiss and illustrated by artist Chris Capuozzo. The theme of the windows is individuality, and unique mechanical snowflakes with human characteristics tell the story of "Snowflake City".
Before the unveiling there will be an LED light show and a special Nutcracker Ballet performance of the "Land of the Snow," featuring students of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at the American Ballet Theatre. There's also an exhibition of windows, featuring hand embroidered dresses, adorned with more than ten million CRYSTALLIZEDTM - Swarovski Elements. Carolina Herrera, Michael Kors, Isaac Mizrahi, Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta are among the designers of the one-of-a-kind pieces. Visit www.saks.com for more.
